The everyday object of a door is something we are constantly confronted with, but also an object we give very little attention to.
This object, a door, also symbolizes a transition, a metamorphosis, a passage, a welcome, a protection, an imprisonment and so much more.
Thedoorbookproject is a collaborative effort to explore the metaphor of a door. One of the objectives of the project is to visually portray a new and diverse perspective of doors throughout the world through publicly submitted photographs. The project will also document some of those behind certain doors through an open discussion in the public forum where all aspects of this symbol are discussed. Be sure to answer the '5 Door Questions'. We look at this project as a developing world community art project. Each contributor and participant adds to the collective creation and exploration of one of life's physical metaphors.
